My name is Andre Yershov and I’m an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist in Midtown, Manhattan, NYC. I’m the founder of Acupuncture NYC/ Medicine of Changes.
Since 1996, I provide expert care for chronic tissue injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, unresolved symptoms, and invisible strain in high performance bodies.
I focus on the diagnosis and treatment of lingering micro-injuries that commonly afflict dancers, athletes, circus artists, office workers, musicians with prolonged sitting, and anyone, who is prone to stiffness, tension and chronic pain. These injuries –often subclinical and recurrent- can evade conventional imaging yet continue to impair peak performance. By blending Tung’s acupuncture, motor point acupuncture, electro-stimulation, low-level laser therapy, Chinese Tuina massage, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, Gua Sha and moxibustion I help resolve deep-seated pain, restore tissue integrity, and support full-spectrum recovery.
I founded my clinic to meet the demand of Eastern European Americans, who were seeking a more comprehensive way to recover from microtraumas. My first medical education in Ukraine taught me that microtrauma recovery is an integral, holistic process. There, Western medicine has always been in close touch with Asian medical traditions, as the main goal was to provide the most efficient and gentle treatment possible. Because of this, acupuncture, herbs, cupping, and massage were considered a part of a greater medical field.
As the first clinic of its kind, I initially built my practice to serve a community specifically looking for this type of care. Since 1996, I’ve witnessed how this approach not only prevailed but also became the preferred option for those in need of supporting treatment to Western medicine, and my practice now welcomes clients from all walks of life.
To better understand the types of cases and people I work with, I invite you to review my website. Since Chinese medical theory doesn’t always directly correspond with Western diagnoses, my Services, Herbs, and Tongue Diagnosis pages offer a better look at my approach.
Acupuncture modulates neurological activity, normalizing pain processing and reducing overall pain levels.
Acupuncture optimizes blood and lymph flow and facilitates the removal of inflammatory byproducts and metabolic waste from painful areas, reducing swelling, stiffness, and pain associated with acute and chronic conditions.
Acupuncture helps regulate hormones like TNF, contributing to inflammation and chronic pain. By balancing these hormones, acupuncture reduces chronic pain and supports natural healing.

Your first visit to Acupuncture NYC is a comprehensive assessment designed to understand your unique pain experience. We begin with a detailed review of your medical history and current symptoms, pinpointing the root causes of your discomfort. A thorough physical examination follows this to identify imbalances contributing to your pain or illness. Recognizing that pain relief isn’t ‘one-size-fits-all,’ we create a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and wellness goals.
Your session may include a combination of therapeutic modalities to maximize pain relief and promote healing. We often combine gentle massage and soft tissue manipulation to address muscle tension and imbalance. We might incorporate pain-relieving herbal soaks, targeted joint manipulations, or cupping therapy to enhance these benefits further. Depending on your condition, we may employ moxa therapy for warming and circulatory benefits or bloodletting techniques for specific pain patterns. Finally, your treatment concludes with a targeted acupuncture session, addressing your pain pattern and promoting overall well-being. We may also equip you with self-care techniques to extend the benefits of your treatment at home. Each session is unique and targets your evolving needs, ensuring optimal results in your journey towards pain-free living at Acupuncture NYC.
