What is acupuncture
Acupuncture is a technique that involves the facilitation of biologically active points with thin needles. We find these points along the acupuncture meridians. There are 14 main meridians and 360 acupuncture points on the human body. Main acupuncture meridians also provide their acupuncture points for the trajectories of other types of meridians, namely divergent and extraordinary. They govern different organs and systems in your body. Acupuncturists rely on reading the signs and symptoms attributed to these meridians for diagnosis and treatment. They use a combination of palpation, tongue diagnosis, and pulse diagnosis can determine which meridians are blocked. Acupuncturists believe that uninhibited circulation of energy (Qi) in the meridians is the key to good health. According to this theory, any disease arises from poor energy flow. After diagnosing the pattern of energy blockage, acupuncturists devise a treatment plan to unblock the meridians and promote healthy energy flow.
